Please Support Strong Nature Funding in the 2025 Federal Budget

Dear [MP Name],
I am writing as a constituent to express my concern that the 2025 federal budget does not yet provide the funding needed to protect Canada’s biodiversity or deliver on the 2030 Nature Strategy.
British Columbia relies on healthy ecosystems—from wetlands and shorelines to old-growth forests and urban wildlife corridors. Without strong federal investment, these places and the species that depend on them remain at risk.
I urge you to advocate within your caucus for the federal government to:
Commit stable, multi-year funding for the 2030 Nature Strategy, ensuring that conservation partners, Indigenous Nations, and local communities can deliver long-term results.
Strengthen federal–provincial–Indigenous collaboration in British Columbia, with investments that support coastal habitat protection, migratory bird conservation, nature-based climate solutions, and Indigenous stewardship.
Ensure that “streamlining” within Environment and Climate Change Canada does not reduce conservation capacity, weaken environmental assessments, or undermine species recovery efforts.
Provide transparent, annual reporting on progress toward 30×30, species recovery, and ecosystem restoration.
Organizations like BC Nature and Nature Canada have highlighted the urgent need for meaningful, adequately funded action. I fully support their recommendations and encourage you to help ensure Budget 2025 reflects the scale and urgency of the biodiversity crisis.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue. I would appreciate hearing how you plan to support strong nature investment in the federal budget.
Sincerely,
