BC Nature is seeking a summer student to support education, outreach, and research activities at the Heritage Centre in North Vancouver.

Position Overview
The Education & Outreach Assistant will contribute to public engagement, communications, and research initiatives supporting BC Nature, the Heritage Centre, and the Elders’ Council for Parks in British Columbia. This role provides practical experience in conservation education, community outreach, and non-profit operations.
Key Responsibilities
Elders’ Council for Parks in British Columbia
• Assist with outreach initiatives and educational displays for youth, seniors, and families
• Support program delivery and public engagement activities
BC Nature / Heritage Centre
• Serve as a front-facing representative, welcoming visitors and responding to public inquiries
• Support outreach during events and special programming days
• Assist with communications, including website updates, social media, and digital content
• Provide administrative and program support, including database management and office tasks
• Conduct research, data entry, and basic analysis to support conservation and education initiatives
• Assist partner organizations with aligned programs and activities

Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies in environmental sciences, conservation biology, natural resource management, Ecology, or a related field such as Forestry, Wildlife Management, Fish and Wildlife Technology
• Demonstrated interest in nature, conservation, habitat management, species at risk work or land stewardship.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and visual)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with digital tools (e.g., WordPress, social media platforms, Canva, or Adobe InDesign) is an asset
Position Details
• Term: 12 weeks (June 8 – August 28, 2026)
• Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
• Wage: $20.75 per hour (in accordance with CSJ funding guidelines)
• Workplace: Heritage Centre, at the base of Mount Seymour Provincial Park
