White Rock and Surrey Naturalists

Club interests:

  • Nature appreciation, education, conservation, and preservation of our natural areas.
  • Creation and maintenance of the Eva Bene Butterfly Garden at Centennial Park, White Rock
  • Preservation of natural areas such as Elgin Heritage Park and Blackie Spit through native planting and invasive plant removal.
  • Placement of bird and bat nest boxes in local areas.
  • Adopt-A-Street clean-up at Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest.
  • Local shoreline cleanups including the Nicomekl Riverbank.
  • Monitoring of local Bald Eagle nests.
  • Participating in the annual North American Christmas Bird Count, Surrey
  • Participating in the Surrey Environmental Extravaganza.
  • Connection with Surrey Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP), Hancock Wildlife Foundation, Friends of Semiahmoo Bay, Boundary Bay Conservation Committee, Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest, Green Timbers Urban Forest Advisory Committee, Surrey Environmental Partners, Friends of Semiahmoo Trail and Nicomekl NatureKids. 

Activities:

  • Field trips and birding walks in our local area.
  • Letter writing and attendance at public meetings to voice concerns regarding environmental issues.

Meetings:

Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month (except July and August) at 7:00 pm. In-person meetings are held from April to November at Sunnyside Hall and via Zoom from January to March. 

Meetings feature informative presentations.  Information about the Zoom meetings can be obtained by emailing whiterockandsurreynats@gmail.com

Membership fee: Individual $35, Family $50
